Mail and in-mail system
An easy mail system with several easy to use functions is missing
First of: A simple mail system. Write your message and send it to one or more friends. Guild leaders would have the option to send to officers only, members only or everyone. This is where it would be good with more than just Leader, Officer and members. But that is for someone else to handle.
With this players could stay in touch with friends and tell them what they missed or ask question about what's been happening when he/she was away on holiday. Leaders could easily spread information about oncomming in-guild events. Or discuss in private with officers what to do over a longer period, it isn't certain that all officers is available but get the information anyway.
The easy-to-use-functions would be several.
Trade Function: This would be a trade mail where a buyer reservse an item from a seller but don't have the gold, they agree at a little higher price and the seller mails the buyer the item and a price is put in a box, optional would be a rate box, the more the seller have to wait the higher the price becomes, put it at 0% and it's dissabled, if the seller wants he can put in an amount that he wants to be payed if the buyer declines after a period of time. The buyer can either put all the gold in at once when he got it or put in a small amount at a time or decline. The seller can't use, sell or destroy the item. The item is viewable for the buyer to prevent scamming.
Invite function: This would be an invite mail where a player can invite friends who are online at the moment for something the inviter wants to do. Also send invitations to friends who are offline for an event occuring another day and at another time.
For the first part, invite friends online, the reciever would be able to declie, postpone or accept. Upon accepting the player is instantly transported to the same district and the same city, town, mission, pvparea or outpost as the sender and put in the same team as him. This only works if the sender sent the message from one of these places and remains there untill the reciever arrives. If the sender leaves the place before the reciever opens the mail so is it deleted, if he travels and the sender leaves then the reciever will come to the place he was invited to but not enter the senders party.
If the reciever decides to postpone, he writes for how long in a box and then the mail is sent back to the first person, telling him how long it will take for the other person to accept or decline. After the written amount of time has passed the reciever will be reminded again.
If the reciever decides to decline the mail is sent back telling the first person that his invitation was declined.
The second part: Inviting offline friends and online friends alike for events occuring other times than the time the mail is sent. Works lke the one above, the reciever will be able to accept, postpone or decline.
Inviting for other times would work so that you write in when and where, or choose from boxes and write a small note and then send it. If the reciever accepts, he is warned about it when it is 1 day, 6 hours, 3 hours, 1 hour, 10 minutes left untill the event, then he's teleported to the place, and put into the senders party. The sender will also be teleported to that place. If the sender decides to abort the event he can click on invitations and then abort on the chosen invitations, deleting the invitations for those who got them. If a player isn't online untill after the event, the mail is automaticly deleted.
Screenshot mail: Share screenshots with friends. This would be an easy tool, a window showing names on all screenshots and showing thumbnails on chosen ones, and the checkboxes. Just click in the boxes, that would select the screenshots and then you just have to send them. In that window you could also rename screenshots and view them in full screen.
can't come up with something else right now but i'm certain someone will
Also a mail client would also be usefull, much like the GW client that you can download from the official GW site. This one would be one that you download and can send and view mail.

GW used to have a message system back in the beta weekend events. Not item sending though, just text. I think that item sending is completely unnecessary and that just makes the whole trading system more complicated than it should be.
However, I DO think that GW should re-implement the idea of message sending, so you can drop a friend a message when he/she is not online.

Spam and stalking = put him/her/them under the ignore list
Item sending = you don't have to use it if you don't understand it or simply don't want to
OMG another freaking reply saying that a suggestion is similar to something to WoW
okey, let's take out chatting, quests, mission, creeps, PvP, trading, armor crafting and whatever else WoW got and GW has too, end the debate about adding an auction house to GW and let more and more sellers spam the chat or whatever we use instead of a chat with WTS and SELLING, because WoW allready got that. Put in cars, bazookas, pimping, digging, sailing, space travel, space zombie mutants.. oh, you will find another game that allready got all this and complain that it's allready taken. I agree that GW should be original, in fact it is original in many ways but you can't complain that a game is similar to another game. It's lame. Come up with a new original idea that isn't used in any other game. Games got everything, you can dig holes in worms, build houses and decorate in Sims, use mounts in WoW, build castles in Stronghold. The only thing left is to use something allready used, and make it better.
So sue me, search malfunction

I dont care for the screenshots either but the rest I like.
as for stalking, there is an ignore, and make it cost like 50 gold to send a mail message. It would eliminate just goofy spam.
As for wow having something neat and handy means we should not have it?
Let us compare WOW vs GW
WOW / GW
Online: Yes / Yes
Can Group: Yes / Yes
Mini Pets: Yes / Yes
PVP: Yep/ Yep
Armor: Yep/Yep
Quests: Yep/Yep
Elite missions: Yep/Yep
Whispers:yep/yep
different Dances per professions/race/sex: Yep/Yep
emotes: Yep/Yes
skills/spells: yep/yep
Warrior class: Yep/Yep
Mage Class: Yep/Yep
Necro/Warlock Class: Yep/Yep
Monk/Priest: Yep on both
Assasin/Rouge Class: Yep again
Shaman/Ritualist: Yep/Yep
Ranger/Hunter: Yep on both
can the ranger tame pets: You better believe yes on both
Can the ranger set traps on both: Yes again
Mesmer Class: Not for sure about, assuming only in GW
Druid class(shapeshifter) : yes/ No
Multiple races: yes/no
they are very similar already, those things that make WOW good would only make GW better.
Ok so we should just scrap GW because it has some major features?

Agreed, who cares if another game has the feature. If GW didn't have fighting in the beginning and someone suggested it you might turn it down because WoW has it.
Yet fighting is such a major point in games now that would seem a bit crazy.

Well there's a bunch of threads on this and I wasn't sure which to bump, so I bumped this one for no reason in particular.
Now for the reason behind my bit of necromancy:
ingame mail may not be as improbable as I (and many others) had previously believed!
If you go here:
http://guildwars.plaync.jp/news/news...?bid=1&iid=598
it seems they have given this feature to the Japanese!
That doesn't mean it will come here, but it seems to suggest there is at least a viable method of implementing it.
I was never all that concerned on the matter, but I felt obligated to mention since many others have pushed for it.
